This medieval village with its narrow cobbled streets definitely has many charms. Its history goes back if not to prehistoric times, but at least to antiquity. A small town surrounded by ramparts is attested since the Middle Ages and some monuments such as the tower and the remains of a Romanesque church testify that period. Its castle dates from the 18^th century. One of its most famous owners, Cardinal de Bernis, close advisor to Louis XV, already mentioned the reputation of Saint-Marcel wines. Nowadays the local wine growers produce excellent Côtes-du-Rhône wines. For sure Euterpe, the Muse of music, “who knows how to please” bewitches the passers-by, who fall under the spell of the place.
