LAETITIA DAUBISSE, VIVIAN MARTINEZ AND ALAIN DUPONT
Laetitia, her husband Vivian and her brother-in-law Alain left Annecy and Lyon to bring back to life the old breweries in Ruoms (which date back to 1876) and to add a bar with a terrace overlooking the Ardèche. “We wanted to change our jobs,” explains Laetitia. “My husband used to go on holiday to Ardèche when he was a child. Waking up every morning with a view of the Gorges de l’Ardèche is just magical!”

The lockdown convinced Nathalie and Dominique to leave Haut-Doubs and move to Gras, the small village where they used to go on holiday and even got married 20 years ago. They manage three gîtes, two of which are accessible to people with reduced mobility. “It was a catalyst, an obvious choice. We fell in love with this region a long time ago, so why wait?”

Bertrand has opened his craft brewery in the heart of Bourg-Saint-Andéol, where his partner is from. He fell in love with the town, and the former pastry chef from the Haut-Beaujolais region has turned his passion into a career. “My philosophy is that it’s a brewery where people come to enjoy and learn, free from any corporate approach.”

Originally from Lyon, but Ardèche at heart, Martine has lived in Saint-Montan for 15 years. She has taken over Le P’tit Bistrot, an institution in this small medieval village. “It’s a place where I’ve always felt at home. I’ve been working in the hotel and catering industry for a very long time. I wanted a quiet end to my career where I could take my time with customers.”
