Cycle paths and greenways
Along the Rhône, or on the old railway line south of Vogüé, there are 2 cycle routes where you can cycle in complete safety in the southern Ardèche: the Via Rhôna and the Via Ardèche. On one side of the Gorges de l’Ardèche, a stage links Viviers to Bourg-Saint-Andéol on the Via Rhôna, along the Rhône. On the other side of the Gorges de l’Ardèche, south of Vogüé, the Via Ardèche takes you from natural sites to picturesque villages.
Signposted cycle routes
4 cycling loops have been created in the Gorges de l’Ardèche area, offering over 100km of signposted routes to explore on mechanical or electric bikes.The itineraries take in small country roads, leading you to discover typical villages, through vineyards and crops, along the Rhône or small secret rivers.
The Ardèche Gorges cycling route
The Ardèche Gorges tourist route runs between Vallon-Pont-d’Arc and Saint-Martin-d’Ardèche. Along its 29km length, there are 11 lookouts offering spectacular views over the canyon. By electric bike or road bike, enjoy a ride on one of the most beautiful roads in France!
Mountain bike trails in the South Ardèche
The Ardèche Gorges are a fantastic playground for mountain biking. Hundreds of kilometres of signposted trails lead you through some of the most picturesque landscapes in the southern Ardèche. From winding tracks through the hills to technical mountain descents, beginners and experienced mountain bikers alike will find the mountain bike itinerary that’s right for them.
Stadium VTT cross-country Olympique
Located in Salavas, in a natural setting on the side of a hill, in the heart of an oak forest overlooking the River Ardèche, the XCO mountain bike stadium meets Olympic standards. The 2km300 track will soon be extended by a further 1km. With steep descents, banked turns, rocky areas, steps, artificial modules, jumps, climbs and double-track sections, the course is technical and demanding. Ideal for club or group training, the Cross Country MTB Stadium is also open to individuals.
The cycle routes of the Ardéchoise race
“The Ardéchoise” is Europe’s biggest mountain road cycling event, attracting nearly 15,000 participants every year in June. The routes, all departing from Saint-Félicien, include several formulas: cyclosportive, cyclotouriste or rando lasting 2, 3 or 4 days. 2 routes cross the southern Ardèche: “La méridionale” in 3 or 4 days and “Les Gorges” also in 3 or 4 days. Permanent signposting has been put in place on these routes so that cyclists can enjoy them all year round.
The Accueil vélo label
The Gorges de l’Ardèche – Pont-d’Arc Tourist Office has been awarded the “Accueil Vélo” label for 5 of its information offices: Bourg-Saint-Andéol, Ruoms, Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, Viviers and Vogüé. In each of these villages, the label guarantees a warm welcome and services tailored to cycling holidaymakers.
