Aven d'Orgnac, a magnificent underground cathedral

Aven d’Orgnac is a cave which has been given the classification “Grand Site de France” (Major Site of France). And what you are about to see will show you why this place is worthy of the title!

700 steps to go down (yes that’s right! 700, but the good news is that you come back up in a lift!) 120 m underground, to the gigantic chambers, decorated with stalagmites and stalactites, each one even more magnificent than the last…

This place is so out-of-this-world, you won’t believe your eyes… The constant drips sculpt this underground wonderland, moving the rock formations one millimetre every year!

The subtle lighting magnifies the surroundings, making it a truly magical place… and this is why this cave in the Ardèche is a worldwide reference in the underground world.
