Paddle-boarding on the River Ardèche
Have you ever heard of stand-up paddling? It’s a water sport that originated in Hawaii, and involves standing on a floating board while steering with a paddle. You’ll often see paddleboarders by the sea, but did you know that you can also paddleboard on the River Ardèche?
Paddleboarding on the Ardèche: who is it for?
Paddleboarding is accessible to everyone, even children (aged 7 and over). It’s a pretty easy activity, but you should be aware that paddling can be a bit sporty depending on the location and the weather.
Luckily, there’s something for everyone in the Ardèche Gorges, from beginners’ courses to sporting activities for those looking for a bit more adrenalin.
You can try your hand at paddle boarding with the whole family at the Pont d’Arc, in Vallon Pont d’Arc, and on the Sauze lake, in Saint-Martin-d’Ardèche. Away from the rapids and tumult of the river, hire your board for 1 hour, half a day or the whole day, and learn to master balance and paddle handling with complete peace of mind.
And if you’re more of a thrill-seeker, why not try your hand at paddle-boarding down the Ardèche! For a mini descent of 8 km, or for 24 km down the entire canyon of the Gorges de l’Ardèche, this is a great way to explore this spectacular site!
